At Orthodontic Associates of Greenville, we understand the importance of a beautiful smile for our adult patients. Many come to us because they simply didn’t keep up with their retainer and are hoping for their old smile back. Some never had orthodontic treatment and would finally like to see the smile of their dreams looking back at them in the mirror.

Whichever camp you fall into, we’re here to help. While many people think of an orthodontic practice as a place for kids and teens, at OAG we love treating entire families, including adults!

When it comes to adult treatment there are two pathways: braces and clear aligner therapy. During a complimentary consultation, Dr. Karen Rogers or Dr. Brian Hamby will work with you to explain your options and determine which would be the best fit for you. But in the meantime, let’s break down both choices so you can begin to make an informed decision.

BRACES
Traditional metal or clear braces are a tried-and-true method for straightening teeth on our adult patients. While traditional metal braces are probably what you think of when you picture someone wearing braces, we also offer clear braces.  Instead of highly noticeable metal brackets, you can have clear ones made of ceramic, plastic, or a combination of both. They are hardly visible, except for the thin wire running through.

ALIGNERS
As an alternative to the fixed type of orthodontic appliances mentioned above, clear aligners are removable. They are actually a series of customized clear plastic trays that fit over your teeth. Each tray is part of a series that moves your teeth a little bit at a time until they are in just the right position as defined by Dr. Rogers or Dr. Hamby.

Clear aligners are also comfortable. As each aligner is 3D-printed to your exact specifications, they will have a snug fit designed for your mouth and treatment plan. Plus, since they’re removable you can easily continue your normal brushing and flossing routine.

If you’ve been thinking about orthodontics for yourself, we’d love to offer you a complimentary consultation. We are proud to be an Invisalign provider and look forward to helping you achieve the smile of your dreams. Just click below to get in touch. We look forward to meeting you!
